Job Description



1. Lead Market Structure & Trading Initiatives

  • Lead complex market initiatives, including low-touch/electronic trading programmes across equities and listed derivatives.
  • Oversee full project lifecycle from ideation and business case development to implementation and post-launch optimisation.
  • Partner with trading desks to enhance execution capabilities, liquidity access, and competitiveness.



2. Drive Electronic & Low-Touch Trading Strategy

  • Design and implement automation strategies to increase low-touch flow, algorithmic execution, and STP.
  • Evaluate technologies to improve execution quality, latency, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with quants and technology teams on algorithm and smart order routing enhancements.



3. Deliver Cross-Functional Transformation

  • Lead transformation initiatives across Front Office, Risk, Operations, Compliance, and Technology.
  • Execute business expansion and monetisation opportunities (new markets, products, client segments).
  • Drive efficiencies through process re-engineering, digitisation, and operating model optimisation.



4. Regulatory & Market Change Management

  • Manage regulatory initiatives (e.g., MiFID II, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, exchange rules) impacting equities and derivatives.
  • Ensure timely implementation across trading, reporting, and risk processes.
  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to interpret and operationalise requirements.



5. Programme Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish strong governance frameworks across initiatives.
  • Lead steering committees and senior stakeholder engagements.
  • Prepare executive materials; track milestones, risks, and dependencies to ensure delivery.



6. Infrastructure & Platform Optimisation

  • Optimise trading infrastructure (OMS/EMS, connectivity, post-trade systems).
  • Partner with technology teams to modernise architecture, improve scalability, and reduce risk.
  • Identify vendor consolidation and cost optimisation opportunities.



7. Risk Management & Controls Enhancement

  • Embed governance, risk management, and controls across all programmes.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, market, and control risks.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and control testing.



8. Continuous Improvement & Strategic Growth

  • Drive process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and client needs.
  • Contribute to long-term strategy for equities and listed derivatives growth.

The Successful Applicant

1. Deep Market Expertise

  • Extensive experience in equities and/or listed derivatives within global markets (cash equities, futures, options).
  • Strong understanding of market structure, electronic trading, liquidity dynamics, and exchange ecosystems.



2. Programme & Transformation Leadership

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, front-to-back transformation programmes in investment banking or capital markets.
  • Strong project management skills (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies).



3. Stakeholder & Leadership Skills

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, including trading heads, COO functions, and technology leaders.
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting to executive committees.



4. Regulatory & Risk Awareness

  • Solid understanding of global regulatory frameworks affecting equities and derivatives markets.
  • Experience embedding governance, risk, and controls in change initiatives.



5. Analytical & Technical Capability

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with trading systems (OMS/EMS), market data, and electronic execution platforms; knowledge of data analytics tools is a plus.
